ARISTA FINALISES BRISTOL TEAM

The new commercial lines underwriting operation Arista has announced further details of its Bristol office, which was opened last month under the leadership of South West Regional Manager David Aslin.

Aslin is joined by Senior Underwriters Sonya Hawkins, Gareth Hodgins and Spencer Flood who will together concentrate on developing business across the South West and South Wales. Bristol was chosen for its proximity to Arista’s select group of chosen brokers and the availability of experienced trading underwriters. The Bristol office also comprises Underwriter Gavin Taylor and Regional Fleet Underwriter Julie Collins.

Arista, launched earlier in the year by Charles Earle and Deputy CEO Lyn Carslake, will focus on broker-administered commercial business in the UK and intends to arrange agencies with a select panel of independent brokers in 2006 and 2007. In the medium to long term the new venture will have the capacity to write in excess of £250 million worth of business. Head of Regional Operations Euros Jones said: “The location and staff were selected in response to broker requirements. The proximity of our staff to the local markets means we can deliver superior customer service to our brokers and their clients.”

Aslin added: “This team represents everything that is exciting about Arista – not least strength and experience. Everyone has subscribed to Arista’s commitment to redefine the way insurers interact with brokers. Each team member will reinforce the strength of our business model which is built upon exceptional and close relationships with brokers and intermediaries, and with our shareholding insurers as well as our suppliers.”

Arista remains subject to the usual regulatory approval process.
